Identity verification is live: verify any client in about two minutes
Siggy now verifies client identities against official government records — with a biometric face match and PEP & sanctions screening in every check, from $6.00. Here's how it works and how to run your first check.
From today, every Professional-plan Siggy account can verify a client's identity — not by collecting photocopies, but by checking their documents against the records of the authority that issued them, with a biometric face match on top. Siggy Australia is an accredited Identity Service Provider under the Australian Government's identity-verification framework, and every check runs with the client's express consent.
What happens in a check
- You enter the client's name and email from the Identity tab, and choose how long their link stays valid.
- They receive an email branded as your practice, open it on their phone, and expressly consent to the check.
- They confirm an Australian driver licence, passport or Medicare card — entering details directly with the verification service, never with you or Siggy.
- They take a quick liveness-checked selfie, matched to the photo on their document.
- Their name is screened against PEP and sanctions lists, including the DFAT Consolidated List.
- Your dashboard shows the result — verified, or could not be confirmed — with the screening status and a tamper-evident audit trail.
Pricing that respects how practices actually work
Checks are prepaid credits — 5 for $35, 20 for $130, or 50 for $300 — with no subscription and no expiry, and PEP & sanctions screening included in every check. A credit is only used when your client consents and their check starts; it comes back automatically if the verification service is unavailable, resending links is free, and re-running a disputed check is free.
What your practice never has to hold
Document numbers never reach Siggy — your client enters them with the verification service directly — and they're never disclosed to your practice. What you keep is what a reviewer actually wants: the outcome, the consent record, the timestamps and the screening status. Nothing sensitive to secure, and nothing to shred.
Which reviewer, and against which rules, depends on the regime you are answering to — TPB proof of identity and AML/CTF obligations sets the two out side by side, because they have different legal bases and different record clocks.
Verification before signature — requiring a signer to verify their identity before a document unlocks — is coming next. To run your first check now, open the Identity tab in your dashboard, or see the identity verification page for the full detail.
